So, I was able to work in a couple small scenes with my favorite British bodyguard character Watson. The first is between him and Lily at the end of Chapter 18. Lily’s had a rough night and Watson’s playing chauffeur, and after she climbs into the back of his ride all emotionally wrecked, he gives her a second to sort of collect herself, and I just really loved how this bit worked out. The interplay between these two characters is so familiar and sweet, and it really made me smile.
This interaction also led to a moment in Chapter 19 where Watson gives Eli a head’s up on Lily’s whereabouts, and their telephone conversation is so flipping funny, I bust up every time I read it. My husband, who’s mum is from England, had a good belly-laugh after I shared it with him, and he also gave me some suggestions on dialectical stuff. (Thanks, Babe!)
